ETHOS

Hand foraged, hand made, beautiful, bespoke, unique statement pieces.

Extraordinarily, outrageous feathers for the ultimate fantasy in head-wear.

Feathered Fantasy is the brainchild of Brighton based designer Ellie Kay.  Inspired by the incredible natural beauty of nature’s daily treasures and a life time of theatre, arts, costume design and travel, the company was born in 2011. This collection of unique, wearable art is designed to inspire, amaze and delight. All the feathers used in our pieces are sustainably sourced and have either fallen, shed or been collected from the roadsides of the South Downs. Each one hand plucked and prized.

The antidote to the ecologically irresponsible mass production that has become the norm, Feathered Fantasy utilizes that which nature no longer has need for. 100% sustainably sourced feathers, organically preserved and ethically produced.  Unique, original and lovingly handmade, these tailor made designs are as individual as you are.

Remember these are individual pieces of wearable art...some are made with bone left inside, they can be hard against the head. For this reason and for the best visual effect, providing not only support for the piece but comfort for the wearer too.    We recommend mounting them on to any hard brimmed hat. Have a peruse of our Top and Bowler Hats, which are perfect for this. All pieces are made with love for you to enjoy... please treat them with care though, as they are delicate and do not leave in direct sunlight.

The game bird feathers and rabbit furs used in all of our pieces are locally sourced and if they haven't been collected from the sides of the roads they have roamed and grown to maturity in the fields, downlands and woods of Sussex...now they get to live on forever as beautiful pieces of art, the perfection of natures creations at their best! Some up-cycled vintage furs are also used in our products. Reuse and recycle...always!
